the property
With 180+ degrees of surrounding ocean, salt winds bunkie sits on the rocky shores of schooner cove, on nova scotia's south shore. The many coves with calm waters around this area make it perfect for kayaking, and it's a mecca of sorts for those who enjoy this land, where the low growing vegetation wears the shape of the wind, and where the echoes of the past quietly whisper. On the property, you'll find our salt winds bunkie, the main house (we are grateful full time residents), a quintessential fish shack with a modern twist, a garage (under-construction), and a boat launch and wharf. Feel free to explore our little patch of heaven. Take the kayaks out for a paddle, swim the cove at high tide, relax on the dock, or quietly watch the heron as he fishes in the salt marsh. The deer population in the area is plentiful, and most evenings at dusk, two Momma's with fawns enjoy the no-mow meadow between the bunkie and main house. An avid birder won't be disappointed, as we have many different kinds of feathered friends here on the cove. But most importantly, whether you choose to kayak, swim, or wander, at some point, be still and listen to the cove. It has much to tell you.
