things to do, places to see

lunenburg retreat (10 minute walk away)

Zodiac Tours with Jason Ransom; "Join me on a two-hour coastal tour in a Zodiac MilPro MKV. We'll talk about geology, marine life, and Nova Scotia's rich history as we explore Tanner's Pass, Schooner Cove, Heckman's Island and the Back Passage into Lunenburg." Jason has spent several years exploring the polar regions (Canada's Arctic and in Antartica) from Zodiacs. Observing polar bears, whales, seals, and penguins from the water has been a highlight of my career as a professional photographer and naturalist guide.

Pleasant Paddling kayak tours in Blue Rocks, NS

pleasant paddling (5 minute drive)

Blue Rocks has more islands per paddle stroke than anywhere. Islands make paddling trips great and there are dozens of beautiful, uninhabited islands to explore. Around every corner there are things to see. There is a seal colony with grey and harbour seals, scores of birds, sea creatures and mammals hiding on the islands. We live to get people on the water, teach kayaking, and show you this wonderful area. Our goal is to give friendly, patient instruction and guide you through an experience you will not forget!

UNESCO town of lunenburg (7 min drive)

The UNESCO town of Lunenburg is the quintessential Nova Scotia fishing/boat building town, just minutes from Salt Winds Bunkie. If you're hankering for some fresh caught fish, or a great cup of java or maybe some handmade ice-cream, look no further than Lunenburg! And with your belly full, push on to the many art galleries, gift shops, museums and our world class harbourfront, which boasts the home port of the Bluenose II. The Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic is well worth a visit. So much to do here in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
